(IPW) Integrated Production of Wine 

Some years ago the wine industry committed itself to producing wine in a manner that minimised negative effects of production on the environment and to ensured that wine fulfilled more health promises to consumers.

This programme closely monitors spray programmes with regard to “pests”, weeds and mildews and ensures that residues of agri-chemicals are both environmentally and consumer friendly. Further the programme ensures that effluent streams from the cellars are also dealt with in an environmentally sensitive manner.

Nitida has always complied over and above requirements on the spraying side and now we have also installed a specialist waste water treatment plant – this uses a combination of “artificial” natural wetlands and modern ozonating equipment to, in particular, reduce chemical oxygen demand to below 100ppm.
