There are no other Bernhard Veller’s in the wine industry. Unintentionally he is superbly qualified for his current job with amongst other things a masters degree in chemical engineering, 17 years experience in manufacturing and business management, he speaks 3 languages fluently, and probably most importantly, he has always collected and enjoyed drinking good South African wines.

Not only does he own Nitida, but he is fully involved. On any given day, he can be found examining a leaf in the vineyard, crushing or pressing grapes, checking the barrels, tasting the blends with our consultant, driving a forklift or bottling line, talking with customers or meeting with a tax consultant, effluent manager or architect. Or he’ll be in a strategy meeting for the Durbanville Wine Valley, conferring with the manager of the Durbanville Water pipeline or supervising one or other building site on the farm. His ability to combine his passion with intuitive strategic planning and unstoppable energy is what has made Nitida the strong brand it is today.
