Nitidus means bright, shiny, healthy, refined and cultured.
Nitida wines are named after the protea nitida (or, in Afrikaans, the waboom) which grows amongst the endangered (just 3% remains) West Coast Renosterveld vegetation on the Nitida hill.
In our Durbanville botanical island, our protea nitida’s attracted attention when they were found to grow significantly smaller here than elsewhere and to also evolved some leaf variation.
Likewise, Nitida has attracted attention as the giant at the heart of this small farm reveals itself in its magnificent wines and in its special brand of hospitality.
