Winemaker Comments
These grapes were picked from vineyards on Altydgedacht. Our cabernet vines used until 2003 had deteriorated with virus to the point where the qulaity was no longer accepatble for the Nitida label. These vieyards have now been pulled out and we have replanted Cabernet on the lower slopes of the farm to compensate, in fact in a better site in more appropriate soils and with rootstocks that ripen the grapes 2 weeks earlier. Hopefully this ends out annual battle to optimally ripen our cabernet grapes. The 2006 was picked during a very dry spell but we still managed to get the grapes into the cellar before the vines showed extensive stress.
